A black suede bag that my mother used to use when I was a child.
It has a thin, long handle and no gusset or pockets.
It was a very simple bag.
Although there is no particular design
For some reason it has always stayed in my memory.
At some point, I started wanting a bag like that.
One day, I met Yamamoto-san from ANDADURA through a mutual friend.
Mr. Yamamoto extracted the material from my memories and created it.
This is a very simple bag named "FLAT".
【 FLAT 】
This year, we once again made bags together with Jiji, a clothing maker in Wakayama.
When I first met Jiji's Hikiami-san, we talked about making bags together,
This bag was what came to mind while I was in the car on the way home.
When Hikiami-san told me the image of the bag her mother used,
I felt something like admiration for the scenery.
In a book I was reading a while ago, I noticed the word "simple" written next to the word "rustic."
I was alone and quietly shocked. I stayed still for about 15 minutes, observing how the words were taking in my body.
I felt as if the tension that had been surrounding the word "simple" was beginning to peel away.
Shortly after that, I came across the word "simple" in a book I was reading, and I realized only now that the word "simple" I had been longing for since I was a student was that it was something that could be expressed in soft words that were not at odds with complexity.
When I was reading the article that jiji wrote on FLAT last year,
There is a line that says, "It was extracted from my memory by Mr. Yamamoto."
When I was making FLAT, was it what I was creating something I aspired to?
And that was something I aspired to as well.
When I'm reading jiji-san7s writing, I feel like she knew this from the beginning, and it makes me tremble with joy.
